Can Government Be Like Zappos?

September 16, 2008

Can Government Be Like Zappos? I’m not asking if our elected representatives and civil servants can sell us Crocs and Dragon shades. Rather, can government, digital or analog, approach the well-trained and friendly customer service I received from Zappos today?  The Twittering, and Qikking, Texan Congressman John Culberson and the Los Angeles Fire Dept. perhaps come closest to Zappos’ approachability on Twitter. Did Chicago police, rescue and Streets and Sanitation workers model the best of government responsiveness in their apparently quick and effective responses to the Chicago Flood of 2008?
