Pheedo launched a new RSS ad unit that displays PR Web press releases. In other words, press releases – dressed up as ads – are coming to an RSS feed near you.
In the press release, Pheedo claims that “Recent Pheedo research shows that RSS ads garner a click-through-rate (CTR) over seven times higher than that of traditional online ads, proving the effectiveness of RSS as an online marketing channel… Content-based advertising will become the standard in RSS marketing…” Well, this remains to be seen.
