As far as I can see, neither of the major Presidential candidates has responded to today’s news that: Cuba possess more than 20 billion barrels of oil off its shore, a short sail from Key West.
Such reserves would place Cuba among the top 20 oil producing nations. …If correct, Cuba’s oil reserves would be almost the same as those of the US.
Coming the same week that the Bush administration removed North Korea from the list of terrorist nations, might it be time for the US to make friendly with our baseball and cinema-loving neighbors? McCain didn’t sound too eager to do that in today’s Miami stop leg of his shoring-up-the-base red state tour. Would Obama, who’s picking up Cuban American support, or McCain be more likely to make like Nixon and go to Havana? (MSNBC’s Mary Murray explored Cuban attitudes on the election this week.)
